On tour
Go wherever you want, on foot or on skis. We appreciate you respecting the environment as you travel so that the area remains as untouched as possible on your next visit. Do not build your own cairns, fire rings or similar. Leave the landscape as untouched as possible after you. In spring, wildlife is particularly vulnerable to any disturbance. The nesting and breeding season for birds and game runs from the end of March to mid-July. Please be especially considerate during this period and always keep your dog on a leash.
Taking a break
Take a break where you want, but be aware that some species are particularly vulnerable to disturbance during certain periods of the year.

Bonfires
Feel free to light a fire, but preferably use twigs lying on the ground. Plant life is protected from damage and destruction, but be careful of the wood you use for fires; sausage sticks and lavvu poles are permitted. Remember that there is a general ban on lighting fires in forests and fields from April 15 to September 15. Do not create new fire rings; use the ones that already exist.
Trash
Do not leave trash in nature. Take all trash and dispose of it in a designated trash disposal area.

Going to the toilet
If you need to go to the toilet in nature, dig a hole at least 15 cm deep and cover it. Used toilet paper and the like are an unpleasant sight along hiking trails. Wet wipes and panty liners do not decompose in nature and must be disposed of with other garbage.
Berries and mushrooms
You may pick berries and mushrooms for your own use, but other plants must be left alone.

Hunting and fishing
The rules for hunting and fishing are, with some exceptions, the same in protected conservation areas as elsewhere. Remember to get a valid fishing and hunting license and/or agreement from the landowner.
Exceptions for hunting: In Litjrien and Tjerråøyan nature reserves, only big game hunting is permitted by the Wildlife Act. Hunting ducks and wading birds is not permitted in Djuptjønna Nature Reserve.
Dogs
Feel free to take your dog for a walk, but remember to follow the leash regulations. Several municipalities have their own restrictions. The period for leash enforcement is April 1 – October 10 in Tydal municipality and April 1 – October 15 in Røros municipality. This is partly out of consideration for livestock and grazing reindeer.

Motor traffic
Motorized transport is prohibited. A separate permit is required for motorized traffic in the outback, and transportation by snowmobile is considered the most gentle on the environment. Electric bicycles are considered motorized transport in protected areas.
Animals on grazing pastures
Be mindful of grazing animals. Reindeer graze in the area all year round. In the summer, both cattle and sheep are put out to graze. Make sure you close gates and keep your dog on a leash.
