Experience the conservation area
Skardsfjella and Hyllingsdalen are a large and relatively untouched mountain area with only a few marked trails and no tourist cabins providing accommodation. You can have great experiences in the area, either on skis or on foot, and preferably with a tent. Cycling on specifically marked routes and canoeing are also possible.

For the areas in Røros municipality on Aursund mountain hostel, you can buy a fishing license at www.inatur.no or the Coop store in Brekken.
NB! Some waters and waterways on private land do not sell fishing licenses.
Hiking trails
The Romboleden trail is a marked summer trail through Skarddøra. It runs along the old pilgrim route from Sweden to Nidaros. You can start at Sylsjøen in Sweden and follow the path to Stugudalen in Tydal. Other than this, there are very few marked trails within the conservation area, but there are nice hiking opportunities along marked trails in the peripheral areas of Stugudalen, Brekken, and Vauldalen; see www.ut.no.

Cycling
It is important to note that cycling is not permitted along all paths within the protected areas. This is to conserve the marsh and vulnerable vegetation in the area. Cycling is now permited in the landscape conservation area along Hyllingsdalsvegen, starting from the parking lot at Torsvollen. This is a pleasant walk along an old farm track. In addition, you can cycle along roads and tracks in Ridalen. If you take Vauldalen as your starting point, you can cycle Krokvegen towards Gruvsjøen, and the track road further over Gruvsjøfjellet to Hydda at Hyddkroken.
Electric bikes are considered motorized traffic in conservation areas and are strictly prohibited.
Paddling
There are no restrictions on paddling. The Hyllingen and the waterways at Rien are great for paddling by kayak and canoe. To paddle on Hyllingen, you have to walk from the parking lot at Torsvollen about 3 km to the water. It is possible to rent a canoe located at Hyllingen; see information at the parking lot.
